PROPOSED PIECE
I Ate Civilization, 2024
(Dying at home is a luxury)
Aluminum foil bag, paper
35x25cm
Prototype
Inspired by the quote, “I ate civilization. It poisoned me; I was defiled. I ate my own wickedness” (Huxley 241) from Brave New World, this project presents a series of sharply worded statements, vacuum-sealed as if they were emergency rations for survival. The work raises questions about what humans would truly need to endure in an apocalyptic future, offering wisdom-like sentences preserved in material thought to resist decay. The text, cold and bitter in tone, reflects the harsh realities and complexities of civilized life.
