BIO
Marina Stanimirovic (*1988, France) lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She studied Contemporary Jewellery in Paris and holds a master degree from the Royal College of Art, in London (2013).
Her practice is rooted in personal experiences and evolves toward collective narratives. Marina explores contemporary issues of humanity and society by addressing concepts such as heritage, societal constructs, violence, and universal experiences like loss and grief. Through spatial arrangements of materials, made and found objects, she creates scenes and intervenes by integrating photographs, poems, videos, and/or sound experiments. References to the banal, everyday life and standardised objects, are conscious gestures of re-appropriation, using humor or irony.
From 2022 to 2004, she co-directed and curated the Berlin based project space GR_UND.
In 2022, created the platform DERIVAT.

Analog picture of studio experimentation while making the first model of her glass piece FLANK.
The photograph has been mounted on a 3mm piece of stainless steel that was originally drawn and laser cut as an element of one of her sculpture but Marina made a mistake while ordering it and had it cut in 3mm instead of 0,3mm stainless steel. Oupsy :)
The piece will seat directly on a shelf or furniture, against the wall or hang from one of the existant holes.
